"I'm getting too old for this!"

Here we go again. A new house and another garden to install. I am definitely getting too old for this, but to not have a garden is unthinkable. Let's see, is this the sixth or seventh new garden I've put in after a move?

Why not try a "low maintenance" garden, you say? Hah! is there really such a thing? Just watering alone in this heat/drought is nearly an hour a day. My dream garden would have a high end irrigation system in it. My real garden (in keeping with my budget) has a plastic turtle sprinkler.

My partner has cut down the tree that was too close to the house. Also, since he works at a nursery, he has brought me no end of perennial plants to choose from. I've run out of excuses not to start.

This weekend I'll buy a golden arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Golden Globe' ) and a red horse chestnut (Aesculus x carnea) and have my partner help me plant them. He's an excellent hole digger.
